Applet: Elevation and Azimuth of the Sun
Elevation and azimuth of the Moon
Elevation
and
azimuth of the Sun and the Moon
Applet: Azimuth, Latitude, Hour Angle, Declination
Select a location
from the menu list, or enter the coordinates
(decimal degrees)
and hit the button "Apply input"
for latitude (northern positive, southern negative), and longitude (eastern positive, western negative),
Check the time zone to get the correct local times. To get this data window select "Day" from the write menu:
To get this window select "Draw year"
from the "Write/Draw" menu: the key "m" to increase the month or shift key+"m" to decrease the month. The true elevation angles of the Sun are not corrected for atmospheric refraction, which is bending the light while passing through the Earth's atmosphere. The refraction R is calculated by Saemundsson's formula (Meeus, Astronomical Algorithms): h is the true (airless) elevation in degrees, R is in minutes of arc. The apparent (measured) elevation is h+R. |
