Émile Gobbe is a glassmaker, inventor of the mechanical production of flat glass by drawing.
He works with the glassmaker and engineer Émile Fourcault who, like him,
is carrying out laboratory research on the mechanical production of flat glass
("vertical draw" against gravity in an upward direction).
